| INDEPENDENCE DAY CHILDREN'S PARADE 07/04/09 |
Sponsored by the Crab Orchard Chapter-Daughters of the American Revolution, children of Cumberland County will decorate their wagons, bikes, power wheels, and themselves and parade down Main Street beginning at the Palace Theatre and ending at the Crossville Depot. This parade begins at 10:00 a.m and it is part of the July 4th Celebration held each year on Main Street on the Courthouse Lawn. To become involved, call Martha Ballard at 931-707-0638.

The Big South Fork Opry is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Don Helms Steel Guitar Festival & Golf Tournament. The events will kick off with the golf tournament on Friday, July 17th at Lake Tansi Golf Course. All music events will be held at the Palace Theatre in Downtown Crossville. A tribute to Steel Guitar legend, John Hughey, will begin at 7:00 PM on Friday evening. The tribute will feature music from Conway Twitty & Vince Gill. At 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 18th, the Palace Theatre will hold the first Don Helms Steel Guitar Jam that will include ten of the top steel guitar players in the world. Saturday, July 18th at 7:00 PM will be the tribute show honoring Don Helms. Many guests from Nashville will be at all the events. The funds raised from the tournament go to fund scholarships for graduating high school seniors who are going on to some form of advanced education. The format is a four man scramble and will have a morning and afternoon field. For entry forms and more information on the tournament, please visit www.rainsfoundation.org.
