Description: The Cumberland County Playhouse is now the only major non-profit professional performing arts resource in rural Tennessee, and one of the 10 largest professional theaters in rural America. It serves more than 145,000 visitors annually with two indoor and two outdoor states, young audience productions, a comprehensive dance program, a concert series and touring shows. The Cumberland County Playhouse is the only non-profit professional performing arts organization in Tennessee that wholly owns and operates its own major performance facility. CUMBERLAND HOMESTEAD TOWER MUSEUM Contact: Vicki Houston |
Description: Cumberland Homestead Tower was constructed in 1937-38 to house the government administrative office of the Cumberland Homesteads, a subsistence homesteading program of the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration during the Great Depression. In 1984 the building was opened as a gift shop and museum displaying exhibits, photos, documents and artifacts from the 1930's and 1940's when the community was developing. Visitors may climb the 97 steps to the lookout platform to view at the top. The museum is open daily March through Mid-December, Monday - Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. |
MILITARY MEMORIAL MUSEUM Contact: Nita Boring |
Description: The Military Memorial Museum of the Upper Cumberland. Displays include personal items, letters, documents, medals, and artifacts from the civil war, WWI, WWII, Crossville P.O.W. Camp, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. A great family experience. |
