Tennessee's Golfing Paradise

Being named the "Golf Capital of Tennessee" was not a case of local officials looking for a catchy moniker.  The title is well deserved and there are 12 major reasons, all of them well designed and maintained golf courses that cater to handicaps large and small.

This past year over half-a-million rounds of golf were played in beautiful Cumberland County and that number grows each year.

Though some of the county's courses are private, the public courses offer beautiful and challenging course designs that keep golfers from all over coming back time and time again to test their games.  The golfing challenge is not the only thing that makes golf here in Cumberland County so popular.  No matter the season you choose to visit the Plateau for a golf outing, you will be in awe of the beautiful vistas that greet you as you play.  Fairfield Glade, also known as "Your Home for Golf", offers 90 holes of championship golf and many scenic views.

All of our facilities are full service facilities, complete with course, driving range, putting green and food and beverage service. Whether playing at the Jack Nicklaus designed Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain State Park or any of the other outstanding layouts, the views and fresh air will enhance the enjoyment of your game.  The winters here are mild enough to allow for year-round play and the long spring season lets you admire and enjoy the impressive display of dogwood and redbud that grace many of the courses.  Don't let the frequent sighting of whitetail deer bother you, they'll just be watching as you play through.

Several of Crossville's courses have been mentioned among the "Top 10 Places to Play in Tennessee," and no matter your age or skill level, you'll find the perfect course for you.  In addition to the outstanding courses you'll find fully equipped pro shops, driving ranges and expert instruction available.  The Golf Capital Learning Center is dedicated to helping golfers of all skill levels improve their game through PGA instruction.

River Run Golf Course teaching pro Kip Henley III was the winner of The Golf Channel's "Big Break II", and, as such, he participated in several events on the 2005 Nationwide Tour and continues to be actively involved on the golf circuit.  That, in itself, is a tremendous testament to the quality of the golf facilities here "on the mountain".

Come visit and see for yourself why Crossville is aptly called "The Golf Capital of Tennessee".

The Bear Trace

Jack Nicklaus designed this 18-hole public course at the Cumberland Mountain State Park with blue grass tees and fairways and bentgrass greens.  The course has a driving range, putting greens, and a pro shop that features Golden Bear souvenir items.

Dorchester Golf Club

This semi-private course located in Fairfield Glade is a favorite among residents and guests year after year. The bentgrass greens, narrow tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and water on 8 of the 18 holes make this course a challenge for even the most skilled golfer.

Druid Hills Golf Club

This semi-private course is located on the highest point in Fairfield Glade and provides several scenic views of the surrounding mountains. With rolling, tree-lined fairways, plenty of water, several doglegs, and undulating bentgrass greens, the course is a true test of golf.

Heatherhurst Golf Club (2) The Brae & The Crag

Heatherhurst Golf Club is unique in that it offers 36 holes of golf. The Brae course has zoysia grass fairways and bentgrass greens. The Crag course offers bluegrass fairways, bentgrass tee and bentgrass fairways. Heatherhurst is one of the three "Top 10 Places to Play in Tennessee."

Lake Tansi Golf

This private/resort course in Lake Tansi Village is one of the most popular courses in the county.  The course has 18 holes with bluegrass tees and fairways, with bentgrass greens.  A pro shop, driving range, and putting greens are available, not to mention lodging and the popular meeting place, the 19th Hole.

Mountain Ridge Golf Club

Open seven days a week with no tee times required. The 18-hole, par 72 course has four sets of tees.  With some blind shots, sand traps and several water hazards this course is a challenge for the best golfer, yet tame enough for the novice.  You will also find putting greens, driving ranges and newly remodeled villas overlooking the golf course and private lake.

Renegade National Golf Resort

Renegade National is situated on top of Renegade Mountain, in Cumberland County. Renegade National is a gated, secured community built some 2,800 feet above sea level.

River Run Golf Club at River Oaks

Acclaimed golf architect Ron Garl designed this picturesque 18-hole course with bluegrass tees and fairways with bentgrass greens.  Putting greens, driving ranges and a pro shop are also available.

Stonehenge Golf Course

Nestled in the spectacular Cumberland Mountains, you will find the #1 resort course in Tennessee. Stonehenge is quite the award-winner, having been selected Golf Digests' number one golf course in Tennessee in 1995, not to mention being ranked one of the "Top 10 Places to Play in Tennessee."  The course has 18 holes, an excellent pro shop, driving range, putting green and restaurant.  One unique feature of Stonehenge is that the entire course - tees, fairways, and greens - are bentgrass.

4 Seasons Par 3 Golf Course

4 Seasons features an 18 hole, par 3 golf course and driving range. The holes range from 80 yards to 191 yards with a course yardage of 2,309 for men and 1,966 for women.
